National Disability Coordination Officer Program

Central West Community College's NDCO can assist people with a disability to take up options for study and training, as well as making sure they receive the support they need to be successful in their studies and to move into employment.

Our NDCO program offers:

  • a 1800 freecall number to ensure equitable access and telephone support
  • a single referral point across Western NSW to link people with their local disability supports in their town and region
  • a website featuring useful information and resources to assist people with a disability access further education and employment.  See below for these resources which can be freely downloaded
  • access to a 6 weekly newsletter that outlines events/workshops/supports/news etc. from across Western NSW. This newsletter is useful to people with a disability, their families, and also service providers within the disability sector across the region. To have your email or postal address added to this list, please call 1800 051 769 or send an email to ndco@cwcc.nsw.edu.au
  • a directory of disability services and supports across the region is currently being collated and should be ready in early February 2009. The directory also contains general information to help people with a disability access further education and employment.  For a copy of the directory, please call 1800 051 769 or send a request to ndco@cwcc.nsw.edu.au.

Resources:

One of the main functions of the NDCO role is to help ensure that more people with a disability move on to further education and/or employment.

Some people with a disability are genuinely unaware of:

  • extra supports available from local service providers
  • disability services within the TAFE/University sector
  • specialist employment services
  • how assistive technology can make a huge difference to learning, both in the classroom and the workplace

For an overview on the supports available to people with a disability in terms of education and employment, a brief rundown on assistive technologies and a list of useful resources and websites, please download here

Alternatively, that document has been broken down into separate subject areas. Please select from the list below to download information more specific to your needs.

Ongoing Contact:

This website is a work in progress so please keep your eye on it as more resources are created and uploaded. If you'd like to be kept informed of any improvements to the website, your name can be added to our 6 weekly newsletter list. Please send an email or postal address to the contact details listed below.

NDCO Funding was provided by the Australian Government Department of Education, Employment and Workplace Relations (DEEWR).
